Promise of Tomorrow: Community Leadership, Civic Engagement, & Impact
Promise of Tomorrow was founded on the belief that stronger communities grow through leadership, civic engagement, education, advocacy, and meaningful partnerships. We advance this mission by organizing, supporting, and participating in initiatives that deliver lasting community impact. The following milestones demonstrate how Promise of Tomorrow has advanced its mission through public forums, leadership convenings, community recognition, and sustained partnership-building.
May 13 – The Psychology of Gun Violence: Community Safety, Prevention, and Partnership
This forum was led by Michael Smith and Community Partnership Collaborative 2.0- website: http://cpcmn.org/
With assistance from Promise of Tomorrow, this event brought together community members, elected officials, and leaders to examine the impacts of gun violence, discuss legislation, and identify community-based solutions. The event emphasized the importance of education, mental health awareness, and building a community that addresses these critical issues.at addresses these critical issues.
June 16, 2026 – Black Women in Government: Leadership. Service. Change.
This event celebrated Black women serving in public leadership while providing community members with direct access to elected officials, public safety leaders, nonprofit executives, and advocates. The discussion highlighted leadership, representation, public service, and civic participation.
Two Brooklyn’s, One Vision Community Award: Recognition for Collaboration and Community Leadership.
Receiving recognition through the Two Brooklyn’s, One Vision initiative represented more than an individual honor. It acknowledged the importance of collaboration across neighborhoods, cultures, organizations, and sectors to improve community well-being. This award was presented to Cindy Devonish-Hall.
That recognition strengthens Promise of Tomorrow by:

· Building credibility with residents, funders, and community partners.
· Opening doors to new partnerships and collaborative initiatives.
· Reinforcing our commitment to equity, inclusion, and resident engagement.

Youth Civic Engagement Proclamation (2024 and 2025)
Youth Civic Engagement Day in 2024 and 2025 was held under the umbrella of Youth Civic Leaders, which created meaningful opportunities for young people to learn about civic responsibility, community leadership, public service, and advocacy. The CEO, Cindy Devonish-Hall, wrote the proclamation.
These efforts directly support Promise of Tomorrow’s commitment to youth civic leadership by encouraging young residents to participate in democracy, engage with community issues, and see themselves as future leaders capable of creating lasting change.
